JOB PURPOSE/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To proactively manage the optimisation of price for Companies portfolio of medicines and vaccines for the Irish business.
2. Maintenance of internal and external pricing databases (e.g. Genesis, SAP, MIMS, IPU)
3. Management of all rebate arrangements

Commercial support:
• Develop local pricing strategies through the management of pricing activity/projects impacting profitability for companies brands and work with the commercial teams in supporting implementation of these strategies
• Collaborate with the new launch teams (including Health Outcomes) to set the optimal price for new products to minimise market access issues
• Monitor the competitive pricing landscape to help make strategic recommendations that maximise asset value and help brand teams achieve selling goals
• Track and monitor the prices of company and competitor products across Europe for the purposes of re-referencing, the identification parallel trade risks and to assess potential generic competition
• Liase with the European pricing/market access functions to implement European pricing strategies
• Co-ordinate the responses to European pricing/market access questionnaires
• Responsible for tracking and notifying the business on patent expiries and new licenses granted for parallel trade and generic entrants
• Input into the annual brand/business planning process by providing assumptions (IP, pricing) for new and existing portfolio
• Work with the Commercial Operations Manager to develop hospital and retail pricing and rebate framework
• Review existing arrangements for commercialised brands to ensure that prices and rebates are aligned with commercial strategies
• Work with the Vaccines team to ensure the optimal price is achieved on tender vaccines
• In collaboration with the vaccines team, develop competitive pricing and rebate strategies for travel and occupational vaccines
• Develop, implement, monitor and adapt all rebates arrangements in place with customers working in collaboration with the Commercial Teams.
• Own the rebate database and report on a monthly basis to the Commercial Teams

External Affairs support:
• Support the Government Affairs team in assessing the impact to company of changes in Government policy vis-à-vis pricing and in defining the companies position.
• Implement any changes to prices as results of new IPHA/HSE agreements or Government initiatives

Business development support:
• Work closely with the Business Development teams to ensure that we get the optimal and appropriate price in all BD deals
• Review existing BD deals to ensure that prices are aligned with commercial strategies

COMPLEXITY:

High degree of change & uncertainty with the renegotiation of IPHA/HSE Agreement and DOH/HSE initiatives (e.g. generic reference pricing) having the potential to change the pricing and trading environment.

Work to short deadlines


SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE:

Business, Accounting or Economics qualification
Excellent analytical skills
Knowledge of the changing health system and its impact on the company
Broad understanding of the commercial business and strategy
Good interpersonal skills
Self starter / self motivated
