A major food manufacturing company based in Portumna Co. Galway is hiring a Production Supervisor
Required:
1. Health and Safety – A proactive approach to Health and safety is required. Responsible for the close out of all accidents and near misses within the guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Manager is the minimum standard. Target weekly Health & Safety score as set out by General Manager/Health & Safety Manager
2. Quality / GMP - Adherence to Internal Procedures for completion of Daily / Weekly / Monthly process checks. Daily check sheet to be completed and audited to ensure all process checks are as required.
Quality Standards – All Quality standards as set out by the Quality Manager must be maintained, such as:
a. Systems – SOP updates, training, completion records
b. GMP – Daily hygiene and housekeeping
c. Cleaning – clean as you go
d. HACCP – Completion of risk assessments with the HACCP team , Maintenance of HACCP records , corrective and preventative action in HACCP failure, review of risk assessments and verification of HACCP plan with the HACCP team at least yearly
e. Target for daily quality audit scores as set out by Quality Manager
3. Customer Complaints – The production of quality products is essential to the retention of customer loyalty and future profitability. Responsible for the management of in-house processes and procedures to guarantee that product is produced to specification. Production Supervisor is also expected to communicate as part of their daily briefs relevant information on customer complaints and trends.
4. Training responsibility – Training needs to be conducted in a manner that ensures employees have the appropriate skills to perform their jobs with the objective of developing a capable team. New and updated procedures must be rolled out in a timely fashion and assessments completed where deemed necessary. Training records must be updated to reflect all training conducted.
5. Plan Attainment – Plan attainment is the ability of the plant to produce the daily product requirements from Planning. By meeting these requirements service levels will be optimised to our customers.
6. OEE – In order to ensure that product cost standards are achieved it is essential that manufacturing efficiencies are at least equal to budget targets. Day to day supervision of the production team and through relationship building with functional supports to deliver Target Efficiencies.
7. Material variances – Responsible for the control of the material usage within the plant is essential to the cost effective management of the production process. Controls, procedures and processes need to be in place to ensure products specifications are adhered to, while at the same time minimising yield variances in the plant.
8. Labour Variance - Responsible for the control of labour costs within the department. Need to maintain adherence to budgeted labour spend. This figure can be flexed to reflect increased or decreased shift patterns.
9. Responsible usage of energy, water and other consumables. Targets for reduction of these consumables are to be met.
10. HR Metrics - Key HR Metrics need to be maintained at all time in the business. This minimises the potential exposure of the company and enhances the welfare and fair treatment of employees. Key HR metrics include:
Performance Management - Appraisals to be completed within one month of an employee’s anniversary date.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This individual will be value driven with a proven track record in extracting optimum performance from a team of people and activities within a production environment through the resources available to them. Ideally 3 years within the FM CG at supervisory level.
The ideal candidate will be driven and ambitious and will be the primary interface between the Production Operators, Planning and Engineering. They will therefore have ownership of all aspects of the team outputs.
Requirements/Qualifications
1. Supervisory/Management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
2. Experience in a food manufacturing industry would be beneficial
3. Experience in the application of ‘Lean Tools’
4. Production Management or Business/People Management and/or Lean Management qualification
desirable
5. Production Process knowledge

Remuneration and Working Arrangements
The salary range for this post is €40,000 - €43,000 p.a.
The successful individual will be required to work shift and this will include evening work.
